Alcohol, Gambling and Cannabis Social Responsibility Funding

As part of our commitment to Manitobans, we conduct or fund initiatives that promote responsible gambling, liquor and cannabis consumption including research and treatment programs. 

We invite Manitoban non-profits and health authorities to apply for funding for initiatives that align with our priority areas. In addition, researchers are invited to inquire about research funding opportunities that may be available from time to time.

Our Priority Areas

Treatment & Support:

This priority area focuses on treatment and/or support for Manitobans who are affected by addictions to gambling, alcohol or cannabis. Examples include:

  • Counselling services and addictions treatment.
  • Helplines or emergency resources.
  • Financial counselling related to gambling losses.
  • Supports for persons with FASD.
  • Support, prevention, and awareness programs. 
     

Community Based Outreach & Education:

This priority area focuses on community-based supports and services that minimize gambling, alcohol, or cannabis harms and/or improve safety within your community. Examples include:

  • Information/education programs that reduce harms associated with alcohol or gambling.
  • Programs that minimize harms associated with prenatal alcohol and/or cannabis exposure.
  • Community programs that minimize harm and/or provide services to individuals and/or communities affected by alcohol dependency. 
  • Community outreach/safety programs.
     

Seasonal Road Safety:

This priority area funds seasonal road safety campaigns that prevent impaired driving between November and January each year. 
 

Research:

Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries has a long history of supporting Manitoba-based research with practical application for harm minimization related to gambling, alcohol and/or cannabis. Eligibility

  • All applicants must be a Manitoban non-profit or regional health authority. 
  • Initiatives must address a demonstrated gap or need within the province of Manitoba. 
  • Religious or political organizations are not eligible. 
  • Funded organizations must provide services in alignment with Manitoba’s Human Rights Code. 
  • Organizations whose mission/purpose align with our priority areas are eligible to apply for operational funding.  
  • Organizations that operate specific programs that align with our priority areas are encouraged to apply for project funding. 
  • Capital projects must apply through our Small Capital Sponsorship Program.
